There is plenty of information out there about setting up a media center using either a home theater PC (HTPC) or digital media receiver, and I’ve read a great deal of it. The long and short of it is that while either approach can get the job done, the right solution is going to depend on 1) how you intend to use it and 2) how much work you want to put into it.
